Ιερά Μονή Γεννήσεως της Θεοτόκου
Dedicated to the Birth of the Mother of God
The Nativity of the Theotokos Monastery is the 1st Greek Orthodox women’s Monastery in the Americas and is nestled in the tranquil, pastoral environment of Saxonburg bui, Pennsylvania. The Monastery celebrates the Birth of the Mother of God on September 8th.
The Monastery also celebrates the feast day of the Prophet Elias on July 20th. And on August 3rd, the Monastery honors and commemorates Gerontissa Taxiarchia, the 1st Abbess who reposed in the Lord in 1994.
The Monastery was founded in 1989, by the Holy Elder Ephraim, former Abbot of Philotheou Monastery on Mount Athos, with the blessing of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. The Monastery follows a cenobitic way of life, dedicated to the praise, glorification, and worship of God.
